Babyface silver stays dark when plug in the external power supply, is this normal ?
I expect some LEDs lit up and shows that the device has power.
The power supply gives 12V 24W.
The Babyface is showing lightshow when plug in USB to iPhone charger.

What power supply is that? Did you plug it in in completely? The RME one's connector has blades for locking...
Ouch ! The power supply is a regular cheap one.
It has no special plug but it is in touch with plus and minus of the connector.
When I understand the answer right, then the babyface should come alive when connected to external (original RME)power supply, right ?
I can live without external power supply no problem USB works fine.
I just wanted to know what the problem is.
I never did a close up inspection of the photos from the NTCardbus-X before, there I can see these little winglets on the plug.

Then I expect your power supply to have wrong polarity.
The polarity can be the problem.
But on the other hand this power supply works fine for the RME Quadmic mk1.
Because that one can use both polarities.
Plugging a third party ps without checking polarity is mindless. You can be glad the BF Pro didn't get damaged by it.
My Babyface is not a pro it is silver one.
Not good to hear that the new BF pro could get damage from power supply.
And glad to hear there is technology available where polarity of ps does not fail.

I was looking at the polarity of the original RME power supply on photos, the plug body is cold (negative pol) and the center is hot (positiv pol),
that is normal for me and most PSs are labeled to show the polarity, only that one I want to use has no printing on it and unfortunately I don‘t have a multimeter by the hand.
I would first measure the plug to see what really is on.
Well, after all I no longer want to mess around with power supply and buy even more of these things is no option.
The USB cable with double end is already the perfect way to power the unit as recommended by the manufacturer.
And start to messing around with other brands audio-interfaces is also NO OPTION !
On RME for over 20 years !

Nowhere did I say so. All our units include protection for polarity inversion.
And glad to hear there is technology available where polarity of ps does not fail.

Not possible. It requires a rectifier bridge that lifts the ground pin of the power supply. One can use something like this with a portable QuadMic, but else it would be more troublesome than helpful.

I have a new NTCardbus-X power supply, it works well with the Madiface Pro but not with the Babyface.
The Babyface silver stays dark. I expect some lights like when connecting with USB.
Wrong expectations from my side ?
Or is there a weakness with those power sockets ?
The Babyface works fine with USB buspower, it would be nice to have it working with the powersupply.
Mentioned numerous times here (and in the manual): the old Babyface needs buspower, not for power but to switch on...
