Topic: Babyface PRO FS - headset microphone no sound

Hello everyone.

I've recently purchased the Babyface PRO FS

I am using a Beyerdynamic MMX300 Headset and was looking to hook it up to the interface.

I've purchased a 3.5 -> 6.3 jack splitter, however, for some reason, I cannot make it work.

Is there something obvious that I'm missing? The only thing that comes to my mind is that the signal from the microphone isn't strong enough for the interface to pick up.

Cheers
Max

The headset you purchased is the wrong type to use with the BF Pro. It is designed to be used with a laptop or gaming console that has compatible connectors and bias voltage for the microphone.

This one comes with the right plugs ready for use :

For your headset you can use this thing :

You have to use one of the microphone XLR inputs at the front of the Babyface with phantom power ON.

Your headset is not wrong but the adapter is.
The mic plug is not a stereo for splitting into left right it is a mono signal plus phantompower.

That Rode adapter I don't understand - don't I lose the headphone function with it? Or where is the pre-splitter to use both mic and phone?

This is only for the mic. The headset already has two plugs. The mics of those gamer headsets are usually condenser with low phantom power 4 volts. The adapter lowers the 48 v to 4v and provide an XLR socket, thats all.

Thank you very much for all of the replies!

@ronmac
I've had it for a while and was looking to utilize the mic with the RME (as answering calls using an RE20 dynamic would be a slight overkill haha).

@waedi
Thanks a lot for the Rode suggestion! Shame I cannot connect it to the 3/4 inputs as would save me some work with changing cables, but that's definitely something I can work with!

@MC
Yes, there are 2 cables for the headset - 1 TRRS to connect to a console/mobile + dual TRS jack to split headphones/mic, I'm using the latter to connect to the interface.

Unless anyone has got any other recommendations that I could use to connect the mic directly onto 3/4 inputs on the RME this topic can be closed, thanks smile

Re: Babyface PRO FS - headset microphone no sound

Input 3/4 do not provide phantompower and therefor your mic keeps silent.
