Topic: Question about balanced / unbalanced connections to the M-32 AD Pro

Hello,

This is probably a dum question that has been answered before.

I have a M-32 AD Pro and M-32 DA Pro.

Both have their 32 channels connected via balanced 25-pin D-sub connectors to different patch bays (Behringer Ultrapatch Pro PX3000)

I read in the manual that those analog inputs are servo-balanced, allowing balanced and un-balanced signals to be connected without difference in levels.

But I was confused by the additional info : when using unbalanced connections, be sure to connect pin 3 (negative/cold) to pin 1 (ground), to avoid noise from the unconnected pin 3 input.

I have instruments and effects with both balanced and unbalanced inputs / outputs..

Can I just connect my synths and drum machines (with unbalanced outputs) with an unbalanced cable to the patch bays (that route the signal to the M-32 AD Pro)

Or do you advise to use balanced cables for all my connections, including to gear with unbalanced inputs and outputs?

Re: Question about balanced / unbalanced connections to the M-32 AD Pro

Afaik inserting a TS plug in a balanced trs will automatically do as advised since it shorts the ring and ground.
