Topic: Am I set up right for electric guitar?

Hi

I just got a BabyFace Pro FS and am using it exclusively for electric guitar, I'm just wondering if my TotalMix is set up right or of there is anything I am missing?

Here are images of my Totalmix setup and settings:

I am running it using STL amphub and that software says to "set your audio device input to -6db" - I think I have done that correctly? But maybe not smile

Thanks so much for any help / peace of mind.

Re: Am I set up right for electric guitar?

Like is it normal that my "main" volume slider is so low and still loud (-30db)

should settings in tmix be -10dbV or +4dbV?

have I set my 'audio device input" to -6db correctly etc?

Anyone?

Re: Am I set up right for electric guitar?

The -10dBV is correct ant the rest looks good to me.
If the sound from the guitar amp plugin is not fat enough you can give some gain in the Totalmix input channel.
It is now down at zero, that is fine.
You should click the assign button and assign the main out to AN1/2 then a main out channel will be visiblw and the settings for the main-out become useful. Those settings DIM and RECALL are not effective without main-out channel I guess.

M1-Sequoia, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

You have a stereo input panned hard right. Are you plugging the guitar directly in? If so I would use one of the side inputs and make them mono.

Babyface Pro Fs, Behringer ADA8200, win 10/11 PCs, Cubase/Wavelab, Adam A7X monitors.

Awesome thank you, glad to know -10dbV is correct. I clicked assign but it is already assigned to 1/2. the one labeled 'control room' is my main "overall" volume it seems. I don't understand why it is so loud even at -50, though. maybe this is normal.

thanks so much. I am plugging the guitar directly into the hi-z input "4", so I changed 'hardware inputs' to mono. but do I put the top fader on input 4 to zero (as shown in this image) or keep it panned it hard right (default)?

One other, hopefully final thing, that I am confused about.

I have 'two' outputs there by default, one is the main bottom right 'control room' which seems to control the overall volume of everything.

But then there is another output (top middle - "software playback") which... sorta seems to do the same thing?? Can anyone tell me what the difference is between these?

And in the settings for that, should width be set to 1.00 (all the way right) like it is by default, or should I set it to 0?

Thanks!
