Topic: Can't get External Audio Effect to work in Ableton - Babyface Pro FS +

I've been trying to set this up for days, i even got new cables just in case.

But for some reason I cant get the ADA8000 to output sound.

I read the manual and some forum posts multiple times, i thought i set up everything correctly, but still no luck ;( I can send audio to the ADA but not from it. Does anyone have a similar setup and figured it out?

The ADA8000 has some switches on the back side.
Should be set to Master 44.1kHz.

M1-Sequoia, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

Thanks for the reply.

It was already set to that.
It goes from the Optical In of Babyface to the Optical Out on the ADA, i'm only using one cable, is this correct?

This way you can receive sound from the ADAs mic/line inputs into the computer, but not from the computer to the ADas outputs.

For connecting an external effect unit you need send AND return channels.
Therefor you must connect two toslink cables
BF adat out  to  ADA adat in
and
BF adat in  to  ADA adat out

Then you will be able to send and return sound.

Oh damn! Thanks for clearing this up! for some reason i thought the OUT and IN was only to select the clock master/slave

Re: Can't get External Audio Effect to work in Ableton - Babyface Pro FS +

I have the ada8200 using two optical cables and make the Babyface pro fs master. This gives you the clocking of the bf and enables all ins and outs.

Babyface Pro Fs, Behringer ADA8200, win 10/11 PCs, Cubase/Wavelab, Adam A7X monitors.
