Topic: Use old babyface mic pres with new babyface pro fs

Good morning

Did I understand it corrrectly that its possible to use my old babyface with the new babyface pro fs in the following way?:
-use old babyface in standalone mode. By simple connecting usb cable into phone adapter into 220v wall socket?
-then connect bf spdif out to spdif in of bf pro fs.
-this way i can have 2 extra micpres (old bf) come in at bf pro fs in the spdif (is that adat 1 2 ??). So in total i cpuld have 6 inputs then (2 micpres bf pro fs, 2 line ins bf pro fs and the 2 mic pres of the old bf)??

The old Babyface will work as an AD converter and use 44.1kHz sampling frequenz.
If you want higher sample rates then two adat toslink cable have to be connected in and out.
The old BF will adapt to the BFPro clock-setting.
And yes, it will be adat channels 1/2

I dont understand the latter about higher sampljng rates. Do you mean to get 48bit you connect bf output to pro in and pro out to bf in so that bf adapts to pro which will be in 48 if u choose?

That would he awesome cause id have 6 inputs then in total?

Bitrate is not sampling rate.
24 bit is the standard to work with.

Sampling rate is kHz, 44,1kHz is CD-standard and 96kHz is DVD-standard.
The samplerate should be the same in your studio set for letting the devices sync to each other.

And yes cabling two way from Out to In and the other way too.
Then the one can adapt to the settings of the other one.

Does the old bf adapt autmatically when in stand alone mode? So if i put pro fs in 48 does the old bf automatically become 48 as well? Because it is in stand alone mode so i cant change selections right?

And how to get old bf in 24bit in stand alone mode?

Stand alone mode = via phone usb adapter??

yes it takes it automatic.
yes, by the user manual it should work this way.
It is probably always set to 24 bit, nothing to change there.
