Topic: Fireface 800 front 'line' input level

Hi, I need to squeeze one more stereo line input out of my FF800.

9+10 are free but I notice when I hook up to 9+10 via the line inputs the levels are noticably lower and I have to use gain to bring it back up. This isn't desirable as obviously it also adds more noise.

Why is the line input not at line level or is there a way to change this (I don't see it in settings).

As mentioned in the manual the Line Input 9/10 is Line level, and the gain is used to set the required sensitivity. Do you fear that it raises noise or did you hear/measure that? I bet your source has more noise than this amplified input...

The source in this instance definitely does have more noise! Partly why I was trying to avoid adding more but admittedly it's negligible and I can live with it - thanks
