Topic: FireFace 800 Mic input blown

I have a fireface 800 with a faulty mic input 7.

When pluggin in a dynamic mic and turning up the gain, you hear static crackling noise. Much like vinyl crackle.
It gets louder as you turn up the gain and just as a normal incoming signal would. But no mic sound comes through at all.
The noise is there also if no mic is plugged in.  The line signal in does work.

I didnt  test it with phantom power on, as I dont have the unit connected to a Firewire port right now.

The other mic inputs work fine.

I suppose I need  to send  the unit in for repair. Any tips on getting  it serviced close to the Netherlands? I was looking at support partners on the website but the belgian and german  ones listed, are possibly not repair specialists.

You could just get a separate mic amp. For example a cheap 1 channel ART one and connect it to the line in. Not ideal but way cheaper then repairs on an older device.
