Topic: Totalmix main out fader problem

Hi,
I have Madiface USB.
Just since a couple of weeks, I have a very slight problem with TotalMix. When listening to music from anything (Daw, Youtube, itunes....), there is no sound coming through my headphones.

Signal/MUSIC  to >> Software playback ADAT 1/2 >> Main OUT PH
Two involved faders on 0db. Metering OK

But: no sound when opening Totalmix. After moving the fader of Main Out changing to another position, everything becomes OK and sounds come through on PH.

Not a very big problem, but just a bit anoying. Does anyone knows what is wrong?

To be clear on this .. the fader on sw playback and main out were both at 0dB when you open TM FX but no sound.
A little movment of the Main Out fader up/down is sufficient to enable sound ? Is that correctly understood ?
Or is the problem that TM FX does not remember the fader positions at 0dB, maybe because you forgot to store the snapshot or to configure to load the snapshot from the computer, not the device (Preferences -> [x] always init DSP devices with TM FX settings).

You understood it correctly,
the fader on sw playback and main out were both at 0dB when you open TM FX but no sound.
A little movment of the Main Out fader up/down is sufficient to enable sound ?

Thanks for confirming. Sry I have no idea, maybe RME has a solution.
Although RME is very active here on the user forum I would send an e-mail to RME support.

The MADIface USB does not have ADAT nor Phones. That said the issue was most probably already fixed in a later TotalMix version, like this one:

Good point, btw I assumed a typo and that he meant perhaps a DIGIface USB.

I have a similar trouble with first gen Babyface. Since I updated my Totalmix, now I need to go move the fader, even if it is @0dB in order to get some sound again. I need to do it at each login to win10 x64. It's boring, it didn't happened before... anyidea ?

Try the latest 1.75. What you list had already been fixed in 1.74.

It is getting worse, I am affraid.

I have dowloaded  the latest 1.75 version of Totalmix.
A signal is coming in in Software Playbacj ADAT1/2 metering OK. Fader on 0db
Hardware Outpt Phones is on 0db, but no signal entering.

Unless I change the fader of Hardware Output Phones Output AND Software Playback Adat 1/2 Hardware Output fader. This is new, after installing Totalmix version 1.75. With the former version I only ad to move the ouitput Phone fader....

Driver version? Firmware version of the Digiface USB?

Did you copy it into the Application folder?

Did you reboot after replacing TM FX old with 1.75?

Does this happen after reboot, cold or warm, or after sleep?

Is the DF USB directly connected to the Mac?

Hi Matthias, I am not sure I can give you all the info you want but:
Driver version 0.9.736.0
Firmware of the DigifaceUSB: I do not know where to find this
The driver is in c:/windows syst 32/drivers/dmk.sys
Yes, I did reboot
I always have the problem after any reboot
DF USB is not connected directly (to a PC, not a Mac)

So you use a hub? Is that one powered? Did you try the DF USB directly connected to the PC?

Firmware is shown on the Global or About tab of the Settings dialog. Current version is 14 for older DF USB, or 18 if you have 15 or up.

I expect a hub to cause the trouble (if you use one).

Hi Matthias, indeed, the USB HUb seemed to be the problem, connecting the DF directly to the PC has solved the problem so far. Thaks a lot for your efficient help. Koen
