Topic: Fireface CC mode unplugging USB required?

The manuals for the newer display equipped Fireface models (UCX II, UFX line) state the following as the first step to enable CC mode:

"Remove USB cable from the  UCX II.  Press SETUP/REV  so that the page  Options  is shown in the display. "

As per the thread title. Is the bold part strictly necessary to enable/disable CC mode, or more of a sensible precaution? What would happen if I where to keep the interface plugged in?

I'm asking because I switch between Windows, where I'd like to use the driver, and Linux (needs CC afaik) on the same machine pretty much daily and I'm not keen on putting this much wear on the USB port, never mind the hassle.

Thanks

Might work if you switch when neither system is running (at bootup), but can't promise...
