Topic: MacOS 12.0.1 small audio drop when loading Totalmix

Dear RME-ians.

edit:
Upon load/reload of Totalmix there's 3ms audio silence. Found consistently in MacOS11.x.x and driver 3.25 + MacOS 12.0.1 and driver 3.27.

prior:
I get music running though Digiface USB via optical in through Digiface USB then to optical out.

Up to MacOS 11 + driver 3.25 + fw17 all audio throughput worked perfect, though since I yesterday upgradded to MacOS 12.0.1 + driver 3.27 + fw18 I experience a small audio dropout whenever I log out my mac user and log back in, i.e. when the Digiface USB stays powered and when Totalmix is loaded.

It also happens when one might close and reopen Totalmix when logged in.

It also happens when digiface remains "online" with its settings via a powered hub, and the computer is then started/restarted.

Does anyone else have this too?

Re: MacOS 12.0.1 small audio drop when loading Totalmix

As I follow the user manual and avoid any USB-hub, I can't reproduce your issue.
Upgrade to Monterey all fine, Digiface USB works fine as expected.
Finally got rid of the previous operating system MacOS-Vista !

Monterey is working well here on my second test system (MacBook Pro 2018 Intel)

Ok, to avoid any issues with peripherals I have connected the Digiface USB directly to mac.

Why would you want to close Totalmix while audio is running?

This happens when logging out mac user, and
To be able to replicate the issue, and
To rule out other peripherals, and
For others to be able to replicate

Re: MacOS 12.0.1 small audio drop when loading Totalmix

the sofar simplest way to reproduce: if you open a browser, play youtube, then close + open Totalmix.app during, the audio will show a small dropout as soon as Totalmix.app launches in whichever scenario

Yes confirm interrupt of aprox. 3ms
Digiface USB with a headphone.
Play MP3 in Finder
Shut down Totalmix command - Q, music keeps playing - magic !
Restart Totalmix - music keeps playing with a tiny interrupt, what a great interface !
Recorded the song during the interrupt via Loopback into Reaper, see screenshot :

No issue for me. The interface works pretty well. Rock solid engineering, awesome !

I can't tell if this was different before OS-upgrade, the idea of shut down Totalmix during the usage of the interface is far beyond.

Yeah not sure why you would do this or why it is a problem

Re: MacOS 12.0.1 small audio drop when loading Totalmix

I took the time to test more and it is across the board on Macos 11+12 and driver 3.25+3.27 and fw 17+18 regardless of combination. With the knowledge this is 'standard' Totalmix behavior I can now take it into account in various scenarios when using Digiface USB. It's my RME multitool after all.

Re: MacOS 12.0.1 small audio drop when loading Totalmix

I cannot reproduce it here with Intel Macbook Pro 16,2 running Mac OS 12.0.1, FF UCX II with driver v3.27.

I can close TMFX with the red dot, and then reopen the app from the dock, no glitch.

I can also quit TMFX (CMD+Q) and restart it by clicking the app in the Applications folder, no glitch.
