Topic: RME ADI-8 DD Latency/Group Delay Data ??

hello chaps,

so i am looking at the precursor to the ADI192-DD, the old ADI-8-DD Format Converter.  would like to hook up an AES only high end DAC to my UFX, via ADAT connection.

the figures for latency i.e. group delay for the newer 192-DD are found in the manual, however the manual for ADI-8-DD does not mention these anywhere. hadn't any luck searching online either.

thanks

I suggest to make a digital loopback with the ADI-8 DD and measure the added latency to a digital loopback without ADI, via RTL Utility:

Re: RME ADI-8 DD Latency/Group Delay Data ??

indeed that would be easiest, but if i had one already i wouldn't be asking wink

i was looking at 192-dd and its group delay is still within acceptable figures.  however adi-8-dd is much older model, and considering that in recent years we have seen group delay dramatically improved on various adc/dac products, i wonder if this logic is the case here as well, i.e. whether adi-8-dd is slower than 192 or not.

bottom line, i can get a used adi-8-dd at much more reasonable price and don't need the SRC.

thnx
