You will need a hdsp card for every one of them, be it pci pcie or cardbus. But both digi- and multiface 1 and 2 work with every working card. But some older revision cards don't work on new computers without a mod. It is old tech so you might find them cheap, but some knowledge is needed. I have 2 hdsp 9652's and 9632's (which are old PCI caeds) for the same reason and they work great on motherboards that have PCI slots.
Thanks for the info. So you can't use them as only a/d converters? You need a hdsp card for them?

Yes.
By default in Totalmix the faders are down for good reasons.
No sound will come out of the box until you lift hardware output faders in Totalmix.
And for having Totalmix access to the box a hdsp card is needed.
