Topic: Will a Fireface 800 with broken Firewire still work as a mic pre-amp

Hello everyone

I need a high quality microphone pre-amp with 8 inputs. I have seen a Fireface 800 for sale, in which the Firewire port no longer works. I would like to know whether, if I buy it, I could still use it for its excellent pre-amps to connect to my Audient id22?

Sorry, no. If you can't connect with FireWire, you can't configure the unit for stand alone operation.

Did  the seller specify which port doesn't work? There are two, FW400 and 800...
