Topic: Phone out as balanced mono output
In the 12Pre, the headphone output can be used as a balanced mono output.
I have a HDSPe Madi Fx, can I do the same? The manual don't seem to mention it...
Thanks!

Just send the mono output to the headphones and reverse phase on one side in totalmix and see how it works. But at these levels I fail to see the use of going balanced?
You could also use a jack stereo to 2 mono jack cable (insert cable) into 2 DI's and have 2 balanced outs...
Interesting thanks!
I want to drive my redeye reamp box but if I use only one side a go unbalanced I seem to lose signal strenght compare to my other DA options.
Should balanced cold phase flipped only 90°? A full flip will just cancel the signal?
Anyway thanks a lot for your time, I'll experiment more.
No 180, that is what balanced is, at the receiving end the 180 signal is phase inverted again and added to the other side, thus cancelling radio interference. This should add 6db. And if you are driving a balanced in with only one side, some preamps don't like that. But I am no expert on that.
You are both very right sirs! 180 indeed!
Ok I'll try that and see if this help!
Thanks a lot!
