Topic: Bypassing DAW mode

In TotalMix, the so called "DAW mode" offers a simplified view and functionality.

I wrote an ASIO host that needs direct access just to the bare ASIO channels,
without any need of using the bridging functionality offered by the DAW mode
(no volume control or mixing, nor intermediate audio buffering).
Just straight to the ASIO output channels in the RME HDSPe AIO Pro.

is that possible? I could not find any answer to this question, thanks.

If I understand you correctly, you want - as in DAW mode - to simply route the SW playbacks to the HW outputs, but stay in TM FX "full mode" to still keep the full flexibility of "full mode" to maybe "refine" some routings if needed ?!

You can mimic DAW mode in full mode with this TM FX function:
TM FX -> Options -> Reset Mix -> Straight Playback

The audio signals from the HW inputs are routed to the applications unchanged anyway.
And due to this predefined routing, all SW playback channels (which only exist in TM FX Full mode)
send audio to the respective HW output like e.g.:
- SW Playback Analogue 1+2 Out to HW Output Analogue 1+2
- SW Playback Analogue 3+5 Out to HW Output Analogue 3+4
and so on and so forth..

After activating
    TM FX -> Options -> Reset Mix -> Straight Playback
ensure that you are in submix mode.
Then press "sub" button on the right hand side of TM FX window (you need to open "layout presets" menue there).
Select one or more HW outputs as you like ..
Once "sub" is activated then TM FX will show you only those HW inputs and SW playback channels that route audio into the selected HW output.
Then you will see only 1 SW playback channel which routes into that particular HW output ....
- SW Playback Analogue 1+2 Out to HW Output Analogue 1+2
- SW Playback Analogue 3+5 Out to HW Output Analogue 3+4

Thanks for your reply Ramses, sorry I was unclear.

I want to get rid of TotalMix FX: even tough I recognized it is a great tool,
my ASIO host does not need its functionalities.

I would like to attach my ASIO host directly to the low-level ASIO output buffers,
without any further latency due to TotalMix or its routing. In the solution
that you propose, it seems to me that TotalMix needs some internal memory copy
to perform routing and channel mapping. My ASIO host can directly handle this.

I have been unable to install the base ASIO drivers for RME HDSPe AIO Pro,
without installing TotalMix as well.

That's a misunderstanding on your side. TM FX is a hardware DSP mixer. It has no added latency. And the software is only a remote gui to control the hardware. So there is no way to remove TM FX from the signal path. And there is no need to do so.

I see Matthias, it's FPGA or similar...

So what do you think are the hardware DSP settings through TotalMix that give the ASIO host the most direct path to the ASIO buffers?

They always have direct acces to the buffers. Totalmix is behind the buffers on the card itself.if a fader is at 0db you get the exact output. Daw mode is only a simple mode, with no effect on buffers etc.
