Topic: Totalmix Listenback routing

Dear Friends,

I have a MADIFace XT and a real routing problem.

If I want to use the Listenback, I only have the possibility to get the source to the Main Output (am I wrong?).
In the control room, I would like to route it also to the Phone output.

Sometimes I don't have speakers when I record, just my headphone.

Why can't I route the Listenback anywhere else except the Main output? This is a bit curious.

Of course, I already found a "home solution" when I work without speakers, I plug my talk back in the mic 1 as usual and the output of the XT in the Mic 2 an then route the listenback to the headphone, but this is not really serious!

Any help (or one day an update) is welcome.

Merci, Fred.

No. This is by design, and the only other output it will show up is Speaker B.

Where is the problem to change Main Out to your phones then, or use the Speaker B function?

Because that is the defacto standard and makes most sense. Everything else would have written Intercom on it.

Ok, but there is only one physical speaker output (Main) on the XT. The other physical one is the Phone output.

If I route the main or the speaker B to my phones, I have a copy of the Main...  not logical, specially in TotalMix where you can almost route evrything to everywhere.

A defacto standard is a choice by RME, ok no problem, but makes most sense, not really. You should indeed change it as an Intercom, because at the end it is what it is. If you switch on the Talkback switch, it is to have a communication with the stage...

In some productions I work with both Speakers and Phones. In the classical world (mine) I need phones to check if I have no noise in silences etc... So it means that If I keep the Listenback on the Main, I have to take my phones away to listen to the listenback.
I have a big RME Setup (72 preamps, MAdiRouteur, 2x XT and 2 computers) because it's full of quality for classical music production and everything is logical, but this listenback routing is not logical to me.
