Topic: Babyface Pro FS USB cable lengh max?

Hello Rme users,
Actually working in theater with my babyface pro fs, i need to install my computer about 5 meters  of my Babyface Pro Fs, because not enouoght space.

I bought a 5 meters  USB cable, but it seem my babyface can't connect to my computer. It works when i plug a small USB cable (about 1meter).

Does somebody know what is the problem? Is it possible to solve, and how? Is this an electrical problem (need extra DC alim?) ?

Is that a cable problem, mean need a special strong USB Cable ? Which kind ?

Babyface should be connected to external power supply.

USB 2.0 is max 5 meter for a passive cable. Check this link. Lots of RME advice not to use HUBs, but might work. https://blog.tripplite.com/usb-cable-max-length

I was told everywhere not to do it, it couldn't be done etc, but I an using a 10m ACTIVE USB3 extension without any problems. got to be external power tho at that length.
