Re: New user: UC with OSX 11.6 Big Sur iMac Pro Logic Pro not seeing UC

Is the UC in apple mode or Windows PC mode ?
AP or PC on the display ? Doubleclick on the encoder knob will show it and also switches between those two.
But for doing so the unit must be disconnected from the computer.
Also user manual page 10 is where to find this.

Re: New user: UC with OSX 11.6 Big Sur iMac Pro Logic Pro not seeing UC

Hi Ty,

As waedi said, check the firmware mode as seen here:
https://youtu.be/PS5-_kpizTE

Driver installation instructions for M1 or Intel Mac (see tabs):
https://www.rme-usa.com/rme-macos.html

If these instructions do not help follow this forum post to fix the Mac error:
https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?id=33277

Here is the terminal command you will need from that instruction above:

kmutil trigger-panic-medic --volume-root /Volumes/MacintoshHD

Re: New user: UC with OSX 11.6 Big Sur iMac Pro Logic Pro not seeing UC

Thanks for the prompt replies!

I may have mis-handled the box,  but it is now in AP mode (clever).

I was told to use 3.27 driver for this Mac. I reinstalled it again and that went well.
Still not seeing the UC in Logic or Totalmix.

Is 3.27 the correct driver for My Mac? OS X 11.6 Big Sur? It's a 2017 iMacPro with 4 TB internal SSD drive.
Firmware 1.38

How is the settings dialog doing ? Does it open ?
Does Totalmix open or stay closed ?
What do you see in Totalmix ?

Re: New user: UC with OSX 11.6 Big Sur iMac Pro Logic Pro not seeing UC

As you can set the settings your computer has contact to the interface.
In mac system preferences audio, is it there ?
In Logic Preferences / Audio / input device, is it there ?

Still denied!

May you also check if mic is allowed in the system preferences / Security / Privacy /... ?

Re: New user: UC with OSX 11.6 Big Sur iMac Pro Logic Pro not seeing UC

If I upgrade the iMac to Monterey, does this problem go away?

The same security measures are in place with Monterey. Is the unit seen in the System Information app (Applications/Utilities folder)? Any chance for a test with a different Mac or PC?

Hey Jeff!

Good to see you out here. Hang on. Lemme bring the UC up to the MacBook Pro. It's at 11.6.2

Re: New user: UC with OSX 11.6 Big Sur iMac Pro Logic Pro not seeing UC

Jeff,

Now we're talking! As soon as I plugged in the UC, TotalmixFX opened on my desktop.

OK, what do I need to do to the iMac? A de-install? Any particular stuff?

Best regards and thanks for pulling me out of the weeds.

Re: New user: UC with OSX 11.6 Big Sur iMac Pro Logic Pro not seeing UC

Happy Ending!

OK, I had a nice catch up call with Synthax's Jeff Petersen. He was not familiar with Clean My Mac, but I persisted and told him I would follow up.

Clean My Mac found three files in my Apps folder having to do with my 237 install. I removed them from my HD.
I restarted and reinstalled. The installer asked if it could access an external drive. I said OK.
Install was uneventful.

The Mac still could not see the UC although it recognized the 237.
UC wasn't choosable in Apple Pref Audio list or in Logic Pro Audio prefs list.
I chose the Apple Pref Security and Privacy window in Apple Preferences and logged in so I could make changes.
A window opened that showed five files and said they were blocked from loading.
Each file had a box I could click on to select and approve.
One was RME GmbH. I checked that box and the others because I knew what they were, and then clicked on OK.
I moved back to the Apple Prefs Audio window and the UC was there. I selected it.
I opened Logic Pro Prefs > Audio and found the UC in input and output choices.

Bingo! It looks like everything is working.

Two of the previously unloaded files were for digidesign. I'm curious to see if allowing them to load will make my DIGI 003R usable. It became unusable after I upgraded to Big Sur. I was using it as an interface for Logic Pro and it was working quite well.

This is on a 2017 iMac Pro running OS X 11.6. Logic Pro 10.7.1.

Thanks to all for your patience and knowledge. I hope this post will help others.

Ty Ford

Hi Ty,

It was great to speak with you again, glad the cleaner app helped here!

i would suggest skipping the Avid CoreAudio plugin, this KEXT was known to cause problems in the past.

Re: New user: UC with OSX 11.6 Big Sur iMac Pro Logic Pro not seeing UC

After reinstalling the Digidesign software to check to see if Big Sur could actually see the DIGI003r after "allowing" those files to be installed by clicking boxes in the "Security & Privacy Preferences Panel, No! Logic Pro could not see the 003R. Anyone want a good deal on an 003R? Please contact me. tyford@tyfoprd.com
