Topic: Best upgrade option

I'm looking for opinions on the best way to get an additional channel of ADAT/SMux 96kHz audio into my system. I'm currently running an older DIGI9652 with the extender card which nets me 3xADAT inputs. This is good for 12 channels of 24/96kHz audio coming in from my converters. I need an addition channel of ADAT input to get 16 channels of 24/96kHz into my system.

What is the best way to get 16 channels of 24/96kHz audio into my system utilizing my existing card?

What are my options?

Mark

Re: Best upgrade option

1) You can add a second 9652 (you will have to buy it used). I tried this already, it works. Maybe even the 9636 (without extender) will be sufficient, depends on the desired way how to sync. Ask Daniel (RME support) for that.
It's a pity these old cards are no longer supported by the latest Digcheck software. However, I admit that I'm always missing totalmix when using these old cards...

2) You can buy a new RayDAT card (PCIe, 4 ADAT I/Os) and sell your old one.

3) You can switch to MADI (up to 32 channels@96K , most expensive, because you will need some pricy format converters).
