Topic: UCX II SPDIF Output via the Supplied breakout cable

I'm having trouble sending audio to an external mixer via the Spdif Breakout Cable. I'm using a standard RCA cable to connect to the Red and White RCA outs on the Breakout cable but getting no signal to my external mixer. I read in a forum that "standard RCA cable won't work" is this true?

Either way I can just buy some RCA to 1/4" adapters and just use the Analogue Out's 3+4 to send signal via the stock RCA cable that I bought. Thoughts?

Does the digital I/O have Spdif Input and Output?

I'm confused... haha

It may be a silly question but are you connecting to spdif out to a spdif input on your mixer?

Re: UCX II SPDIF Output via the Supplied breakout cable

You need an SPDIF cable with should have 75 Ohm impedance according to the standard like this one here:
https://www.thomann.de/de/cordial_cpds1 … lkabel.htm

Next take care to set the proper channel status for SPDIF, see manual ch 7.1 and 21.3 or search PDF for "consumer".

With SPDIF you can transfer exactly 2 channels not more.
Otherwise use ADAT (TOSLINK based) which allows for 8ch at single speed, if your mixer has such a port.
If TOSLINK then I can recommend to use TOSLINK cables from Mutec which have precise plugs and are not to stiff:

Well, i'm connecting to an RCA line-in. Which may be the issue. I don't think I realised that "SPDIF" is a different type of signal to a standard RCA Line-in. Is this correct?

Yeah I think my problem here is that i'm trying to use an Analogue RCA cable, whereas the output from the UCX II breakout cable is a 75ohm digital spdif signal. Is this correct?

I ended up just using outputs 3+4 and getting an RCA to 1/4' adapter. This worked fine for the line-input on my external mixer.

Re: UCX II SPDIF Output via the Supplied breakout cable

I thought from your wording you were trying to go digital to line but wanted to make sure. Yes it is a digital signal so will only work if you have a spdif digital input or if you get a DAC (digital analogue converter) and yes you need a coax cable

Sweet yeah, that makes sense. Thanks for the info!
