Hi, I'm french. I have been trying to solve my problem for several days, I hope you can help me.
A little bit more background information.
Did it work before reliably bus powered and for how long ?
Or is this a new device that you just got from used market ?
Did you already try with a proper PSU, e.g. this one here:
https://www.rme-shop.com/cgi-bin/sh0018 … ml#SID=113
Specs:IMAC (end of 2013) 3,4 ghz, 1TO, osx 10,15 , 32 go ram
I have an old macbook pro mid 2010 with firewire, it doesn't work cause HDD is dead but it turns on.
When i plug in the old MBP, FF400 works, it doesnt blink.
Is it possible, my firewire ports are dead ?
How to know?
This is valuable information, better laten then never ...
Maybe the other Apple doesn't deliver enough power.
Get the PSU as I told.
If this doesn't work your Fw at the computer may be defective.
If this computer has Thunderbolt you could try to use TB to FW adapter from Apple.
I already use the TB>FW adapter
I made a mistake, i don"t have firewire ports on my imac, just thunderbolt.
You should try the separate PSU and maybe the TB cable or the TB/FW adapter is/are defective.
I would order these three and try. Please Apple original parts, these should work best, this is not the case with 3rd party.
With PSU

.....I bought 2 apple adapters just in case.
On Cubase 11 pro, it doesn't recognize my Firface400
Sorry I do not know the Apple world in detail.
The link to the PSU I gave to you already.
In terms of thunderbolt cables and TB to FW adaptors somebody else needs to jump in here.
thx a lot
1. TB does not provide enough bus power, using an external ps is mandatory.
2. Are you sure the switch on the back is set to use the PS?
3. You see the TB to FW adapter, but do you also see FW itself?
4. Followed the usual notes about allowing the drivers in Privacy etc?
