Re: Bi pass ED Loudness B/t

EQ, Loudness and B/T can toggle on/off at Remote (B/T), (EQ), (LD) button.
The RME Dac Menu, At the unit Press (I/O), then turn Knob (2) you will see "Settings", "Parametric EQ", "Bass/Treble", and "Loudness".

Do not understand what you mean at Question 2.

Je ne comprends pas ce que vous voulez dire à la question 2.

Re: Bi pass ED Loudness B/t

on the ADI 2 DAC Signal Flows & Levels diagram, I see the DSP module (EQ Loudness BT Phase.) and a DSP Bi pass module
If the signal goes through this Bi pass, does it improve the sound ?

Re: Bi pass ED Loudness B/t

Hi again Eric.

I'm truly not certain what your question really is. (?)

While B/T, and Dynamic Loudness both have an effect on FR, they work in very different ways.  Either function can be negated by simply deactivating Loudness via the I/O menu, or setting your B/T to Zero via the small encoders (1&2) on the front panel of your RME.

I say aloud that outside of a Lab Test scenario,  neither "tweak" is even remotely acceptable to me as both B/T, and Loudness perform very useful functions that I am not willing to sacrifice.

*example:  My old DAC had NONE of the RME's functionalities.   Devoid of any "features", and by Audiophile Reasoning,  the old DAC Should have been as Pure as the New Fallen Snow, but that was hardly the case.  Now since years, that old DAC lies in a Box stored in the attic never to be heard from again. From a Listeners perspective, the RME outperforms it from every conceivable angle.

That was DSD by-pass, not DSP by-pass.

ok and what is the point of bypassing it?

The complexion of this thread has seemingly changed dramatically since I first logged on.

My earlier comments are largely pointless

Eric,

On Topic...

DSD is extremely piggish on Resources, and demands that some functionalities be omitted when DSD is played.  All this for no actual increase in performance. This would be just one of the reasons I don't/won't use DSD. wink
