Topic: unable to clock sync Fireface 802 and ADI-2 PRO FS R

Hello

I'd like to use the adi 2 pro fs r as master clock, so I set its clock source to internal.
It feels like my Fireface fails to self clock over AES, even with the right setting, it always stay to internal clock source...front panel AES led is of as well.

I don't understand why...I followed this very clear video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiFsll_5qIM

Thank you for your time !

Check
- AES connection between ADI-2 Pro FS R BE, whether you connected the AES cable between ADI-2 Pro AES OUT and FF 802 AES IN
- whether 802's AES input has been set to AES format in the driver settings, see also manual ch 7.1.

You could also connect AES IN/OUT on both devices and perform a loopback test by this to check AES cable and input/output ports on both devices.

Also...from an audio quality standpoint it makes more sense to make the fireface master. The ADI2 pro fs will make sure that there is no increased jitter when slaved. But the fireface has no fs jitter reduction only steadyclock. The fs part only comes into play when slaved, it can not improve the clock of the fireface. External clocking can and will only increase jitter (ever so slightly with the great steady clock design) But steadyclock fs will really not increase jitter when clocked externally!
Hope I am clear!
But if any of this is audible....

thank you for your message ramses, it helped me to solve my issue, I forgot to connect the cable that goes from the adi to the in of the ff so it's now clocked to it...works better when you plug it right big_smile
