Topic: More than 3 Interfaces, Limitations?, Best setup?

Hello RME Fans,

If i connect (MacBook Pro 2015) my UFXII, FF800 and 2x FF400 all 4 show up in TotalMix and I can use TotalMix with all of them.
I can also use the Driver (Fireface Settings) to configure them, USB and FW show up in different windows.

The manual says that there is a limitation to 3 interfaces.

What is limited if I use more than 3 (I have 6)?

I am working on a setup with UFXII, BF pro, 2x FF400 and 2x FF800, (OctamicII, OctamicD and 1 Quadmic)

What would be the best (most reliable) way to sync them? Word Clock or ADAT or a combination of both?

Inputs:
UFXII:
analog in from OctamicII,
ADAT1 in from OctamicD
ADAT2 in from FF400(1) (2xMic) and analog in Quadmic (4xMic) and (ADAT in from) BF pro (2xMic)
AES in from FF400(2) 2x Mic

FF800(1) is optional If I need the Instrument Inputs of FF400 (over ADAT or AES)
FF800(2) is backup

Thank you for ideas!

Three identical interfaces.

Wow, Danke für die Klarstellung! Thank you!

Re: More than 3 Interfaces, Limitations?, Best setup?

Sorry, but could it be that there is a limitation of 3 with FW and 3 with USB?

2xFF400 and 2xFF800 didn´t show up all together, only 3 of them show up in the fireface settings and in die Audio Setup (Mac)

Re: More than 3 Interfaces, Limitations?, Best setup?

Yes, three per driver - FF400 and 800 use the same driver.
