Topic: Power UCX Down Before Changing from FireWire to USB Cable?

Hi there,

I occasionally use my Fireface UCX in class-compliant mode with my iPad. Most of the time these days though, it's the audio interface for my backup Windows PC. When I go from FireWire with the PC to USB and class-compliant mode with the iPad, do I need to turn off the UCX, or can the cables be swapped out with the UCX's power on? Just curious -- and don't want to do anything stupid.

FireWire is known for the need to handle it with caution. I would turn off the unit before plugging/unplugging FireWire. USB with or without CC usually does not require power off when plugging.

And also power off and even disconnect from mains your PC when connecting FireWire. Went wrong here once, 300 € repair. Especially dangerous with floating earth as it is in my home studio.
