Topic: Midi out causes crashes?

I am very new to MIDI via MIDI cables. I plugged in the mini-MIDI cable of my BF RS Pro and Studio One crashed when I restarted my PC, Steam couldn’t connect, and both Ableton and Studio One crashed several times.

I unplugged the MIDI cable from the BF and all those issues went away.

Did I do something incorrectly? I had the MIDI out from the BF to the MIDI in on my NI KK S61 MK2.

I am on a Windows 10 PC

Thanks!

Re: Midi out causes crashes?

So you want to play your NI sounds from your DAW? I see no reason this would crash your computer or DAW. Does windows report the midi interface correctly? Can you see see it in either DAW before you plug a cable in? With the pc on what happens if you plug the same midi cable into the bf but not the NI? You could route in your DAW to the midi out on one track and on another track have the midi in routed and then connect in and out on the bf. Does this still crash it? Make sure there are no other routings though as you don’t want a midi loop.
