Topic: AIO/Cubase 12 pro issue...

Hi,

When I start Cubase in Windows 11 I get a very loud burst of white noise. I can't remember when this started but it hasn't always been like that.

I did some searching about this but haven't found anything helpful yet.

Any ideas out there?

Thanks.

Hello!

No experience with Win11, but how different can they be? smile
So, can you post your driver and firmware versions for your AIO? (numbers, please)

Also, how many WDM Devices do you have configured?
Does this issue happen with another DAW? Can you try with Reaper, for example?

Hi, and thanks 'MHK',

I have a habit of keeping all my stuff up to date, here's what I have WDM wise:

AIO driver version 438 - Firmware version 14

Cubase Pro 12.0.30

WaveLab Elements 11.1

Magix MovieStudio 2022 Suite

Any help is appreciated...

Re: AIO/Cubase 12 pro issue...

Hi, Mauri !!
And, you 're welcome!!

Sorry, I should have clarified that you can check in the HDSP Driver settings, under "WDM Devices" section, for your WDM Devices.
WDM stands for "Windows Driver Model" and is the standard Windows driver which is used for audio.
So RME has included a section where we can choose which I/O is to be used by Windows.

If you have any I/O configured as WDM Devices, just uncheck them all and check if the issue with Cubase, persists!
Also, make sure that RME ASIO Driver is selected in Cubase 's settings!

Then, please, report back!!

Re: AIO/Cubase 12 pro issue...

Hi, MHK,

Under "WDM Devices" and "Configure" I have two options, "Multi-Channel" or "Stereo". I've normally chosen the "Stereo" option but it turns out that selecting this has recently been causing the blast of white noise, no idea why.
Selecting the "Multi-Channel" seems to fix it.

Thanks for the advice, I think the problem is solved.

Stay well... smile

P.S. I changed back to the "Stereo" option, as an experiment, but the noise hasn't come back. Odd.

Re: AIO/Cubase 12 pro issue...

You stay well, too, Mauri !!

Maybe a Windows update messed with the Sound settings, and changing from "Multi-channel" to "Stereo" re-set them!
Glad you 've fixed it !!
