Topic: Would upgrading to UCX II improves DAW stability on Mac's Big Sur?

Hi guys,

I have had UCX for a while now. I am sure many people experience CPU overload/Audio dropout, glitches when using UCX and Ableton 10 on Big Sur.

I bought this laptop new, fully spec'ed with I9 Core, 32GB... My studio is mostly hardware synth, so in my Ableton, I may have a lot of audio recordings but not much VST synth, other than processing plugins.... Even I have frozen all other tracks, and closed all other Mac apps... the performance is still surprisingly slow... Buffer size and sample rate is standard 44k and 128 samples...

I spoke to a friend that he was telling me that it could be the older firewire that is not working well on the newer MAC OS... and was recommending me to check Focusrite Interface...

But I wonder if upgrading to UCX II would be able to improves the stability, and minimize these kind of crashs/glitches.

I don't think UCX II would improve the stability.
Did you try connecting the UCX via USB?

Yes its connected via USB via a USB-C adapter made by Apple, directly to its own USB port....
