Topic: L channel louder than R

Hey everyone, I'm using a RME Fireface UFX+ (Firmware v47, Driver 3.25). TotalMix Version 1.73 MAC OS X (5).

With all audio going thru the RME, the Left channel is louder than the right. Feels like about 1.5dBFS or some such at a guess.

I've been looking at TotalMix all day and can't find anything. I tried the Mac Audio MIDI Setup utility pink noise test and sure enough L was louder than R.

Any troubleshooting ideas? I'm really stumped and it's making it hard to work.

Re: L channel louder than R

Which channels are affected? Have you tried resetting Totalmix? Can you measure the difference (with a test tone and a loop to analog inputs)?

Re: L channel louder than R

Thanks for the reply, Daniel.

So the R channel is quieter. I did the "Total Reset" option yes, but can do it again.

I'm not sure how to do that measurement you suggested. Do you have a link to more information?

Connect a L/R pair of outputs to a pair of inputs and play a test tone (sine wave). Then you'll see how much of an imbalance there is. The unit may be in need of service.

Re: L channel louder than R

Sorry, I think I misunderstood.

At least channels 1 & 2 (XLR out) and 9 & 10 (phones).

I actually had the device serviced fairly recently, so this would be a surprise.
