Topic: ADI-4 DD and external effects

Just wanted to know if it was possible to use my FF800 ADAT I/O with the ADI-4 DD ADAT to AES/EBU converter.  I have 4 external FX (TC Fireworx, TC D-Two, TC M-One XL, Lexicon MPX 550) and I want to send and return them digitally via SPDIF coax and into the ADI-4.  Cubase 4 has a External FX feature that let's you add external FX.

Is that possible or does it require individual BNC word clock syncs in addition. Anyone know what I'm talking about or am I crazy?

Re: ADI-4 DD and external effects

If all these units will sync to the incoming AES or SPDIF signal (which they should), this will work fine, also without additional Word Clock.

Re: ADI-4 DD and external effects

Just one more question.. Since the ADI-4's AES/EBU I/O has isolation circuity, I can simply use an AES XLR to SPDIF RCA adaptor? This also means that I don't need to use any addional impedance matching convertors?  I know it sounds tedious, but I need this info to see if I can easily convert the two formats with ease.  There is no other device I could find that would do this job.

I also researched some info about this issue and found these links:

Yes and yes. As explained in the manual.
