Topic: [Solved] Phase issue while recording

Hey good people. I have an issue. It’s a TotalMix FX routing issue I can’t seem to get fixed. At least I think so.

When I play (just play….not record) my guitar with the Kemper through the S/Pdif, it’s normal. But as soon as I hit that record button in Logic Pro and record the guitar,  instantly a phase issue occurs along with a higher volume on the guitar.

When I playback the recorded guitar. The phase issue is gone. So it’s only on the monitoring during recording on the guitar.

So I guess I somehow get my guitar routed into the software playback or something. I can’t wrap my head around it.

I hope that someone has some wise words for a RME newbie like me :-)

Re: [Solved] Phase issue while recording

You are monitoring the direct signal from TotalMix as well as the signal back from the DAW. So either turn monitoring off on the DAW recording channel (I don’t know logic but that’s how it is done in Cubase) or turn the fader down for the channel you are recording in TotalMix. This does not impact the recording level. Make sure the fader you are using for output is selected when you turn it down.

One or the other but not both otherwise you will hear nothing. Probably best to stop monitoring in logic then there will be less latency. The phasing problem is both playing at the same time but the DAW return is a bit later

Hey man. Thanx :-) I used Cubase on a Window computer before and this wasn’t an issue. But it was the right solution. I found out through YouTube how to turn it off in Logic Pro. So again….thanx :-)
