Topic: Fireface UCX repair specialist?

Hi, First post on here!  My brilliant, loyal Fireface UCX has died!!  Power lead was inoperative one morning with no green light, when substituted with something of the same spec it came on, but with a mighty howl out of both monitors and virtually all lights available were on.  Resolved to the fact it is all but deceased I am on a list for the much in demand UCX 11, which will be great, if a bit untimely expensive!  To recoup my losses I am looking for a reliable repair specialist to fox my faithful UCX 1.  Any advice from anybody?  Thanks in advance!

That sounds like your spare power supply was not powerful enough,

the other issue it could be is the power unit inside the UCX has failed and can be replaced, or some capacitors are gone bad on the power unit.

since your guarantee has expired if you feel confident, you can open the unit and look around the power unit to see if there is capacitors that are blown out of shape so the top of the capacitor will be roundish and not flat,

if so take the unit in for it to be repaired or power unit replacement

Thank you novaburst, I have a proper power supply on order.  Should that fail then I have nothing to lose by having a look inside.  I will let you know what happens!!!
