Topic: Fireface 400 as ADAT I/O expander (standalone, slave)

Hi,
I’d like to use the RME Fireface 400 as an ADAT I/O expander for another interface.

My question is: once I set it up to work in standalone mode via ADAT, can I use it as the “slave” interface?
If I change the sample rate for a specific session inside my DAW (let’s say from 44.1kHz to 48kHz or viceversa), would it sync automatically or should I always reconnect it via firewire to change this setting?

I tried to search for an answer about this kind of scenario but I can’t seem to find a definitive word on that.
Could you please help?
Thanks a lot

Re: Fireface 400 as ADAT I/O expander (standalone, slave)

Did you check the manual? Ch 20 about stand-alone operation:

20. Stand-alone Operation
The Fireface 400 has an internal memory to permanently store all configuration data. These are:
-Settings dialog
-Sample rate, ⁣ clock mode Master/Slave, configuration of the channels and the digital I/Os.

yeah, I just wanted to be 100% sure from 1st hand experience that the sample rate changes could be done without being forced to reconnect the firewire cable.

Sorry, I have no FF400, usually information in the manual are accurate.
