Topic: Latency issues when linking FF800 and UCX

Hello,

I am currently experiencing heavy latency with my current configuration which effects both MIDI data recording and audio. The latency is recording MIDI and audio early rather than lagging behind the beat.

I have two RME interfaces linked VIA ADAT.

FF800 (set to master) ADAT OUT--> UCX (set to word clock in) ADAT IN --> Apple USB to Thunderbolt adapter --> MBP M1 (Monerey 12.5)

Input Status of FF800:
SPIDIF in: ADAT 2
Preferred syn ref: Word clock / no lock

Input Status of UCX:
Word: No lock
ADAT: Sync 48hz
SPIDIF coax: No lock

I have played with different configurations but seem to be running in circles.

Any information would be warmly appreciated,
Jacob

I think both units need to be put on Fire 400 only,

Or make UCX the master, Via USB standard,

Firewire is a ms slower than USB,

Word Clock comes in via BNC which you did not use, so the configuration is invalid. UCX must sync to its ADAT/optical input. And that will only work when the FF800 is set to the correct sample rate.

A better approach is to set the FF800 to sync to its ADAT input, with the UCX being the master (Internal). For that to work add a second optical cable, from UCX to FF800.
