Topic: Will this cheap DAC work with my Babyface Pro?

Wondering if
someone could confirm whether THIS or any similarly cheap optical DAC (TosLink/SPDIF) will allow me to add a separate headphone monitor mix to my (adat) RME Babyface Pro?

Hoping for a cheaper solution compared to purchasing a Behringer ADA8200 or Focusrite interface..

Have also heard rumors that I may need to adjust the Babyface Pro from the default ADAT to SPDIF and if so, could someone explain how to do so?

Yes that will work.
You switch the output adat/spdif in the control panel for the babyface.

Re: Will this cheap DAC work with my Babyface Pro?

It is clearly described in the manual and even on the very first pages.
You only have to look inside and search for “SPDIF”. At the 3rd or 4th hit you already have it.

Manual ch 5.1 p 8.
Optical I/O (TOSLINK): The unit automatically detects SPDIF or ADAT input signals. The optical output can operate as ADAT or SPDIF output, depending on the current setting in the Settings dialog.

Isn;t the headphones out of the babyface pro already separate? Mine on the pro fs is  or do you need a second headphones mix out that is separate from the first?
