Topic: Totalmix 1.78 Mackie Control Changes?
I'm trying to track down the cause of a behaviour change (bug) in Mackie Control support with TM.
For many years I've been using a SSL Nucleus as Mackie Control surface. It's a 16 fader machine seen as 2 x 8 channel Mackie Controls by supporting software including TM. TM and SLL have been working perfectly together.
The SSL uses a IP MIDI plugin to create virtual MIDI ports over a network which are then seen by the software. Due to a recent upgrade to Apple Mac Studio Ultra the existing third party IP Midi plugin was broken but nerds.de offer a compatible updated version.
The behaviour now with Totalmix is a bit broken. Instead of the previous behaviour where TM sees 2 control surfaces moving as one 16 channel device allowing to see 16 stereo channels on the SSL, only 9 stereo strips are displayed across all 16 strips on the SSL. You can bank L/R Up/ Down but the display still only show 8 channels on left SSL and the same 8 channels offset by 1 on the right. All other functions work exactly as they did previously on my intel Mac.
It seems pretty obvious to point the finger at the IP Midi plugin for the cause of problem except that in Logic Pro using exactly the same system, it integrates perfectly as it did on the previous Mac. Logic & Totalmix are the only 2 Mackie Control programs I use so further testing with other programs is not possible.
However in this thread:
<https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?id=36229>
another user with the same SSL hardware, Totalmix version and IP MIDI plugin version has the same problem and his system works well still with Abelton and SSL Delta Sigma software - two other programs that support Mackie Control.
Did anything in Totalmix 1.78 Mackie Control support change?
Would also love to hear from other 16 channel Mackie Control and Totalmix 1.78 users to see if the issue goes beyond this specific hardware use case.
