Topic: Read rumor here "no intel TBolt chips" + new UFX+ without Thunderbolt!

I read:

https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?id=36359

From what we can read in the forum is, that some interfaces are not available anymore due to chip crisis.
For the UFX+ the Intel thunderbolt chips are not available anymore.
I would expect an UFX+ successor in the near future, USB3 based without TB, again with MADI.

I looked at thunderbolt 4 motherboards and also this:
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/search … +interface

Yep, RME would be a tad ground-breaking yet again having TB4/USB3 on RME's (often) just a single user interfaces.   The beauty of TB4's protocol refinement. USB AND Thunderbolt in one port on one cable.

I understand that RME doesn't much do option add-on bits.

Though, how's about a UFX+ successor with Thunderbolt 4 as an option card?!!!
Even if it's NOT released at the time a new UFX+ is released.

REASONING: based on over 20 years of geeking on many many and only RME interfaces.   And, wishing i was entirely mistaken on all points.

I haven't posted on my personally confirmed belief again (found in this thread i started)   UNTIL NOW -)

[SHORT VERSION]
that, while USB2/3 is good, the CPU hit IS real enough to matter to me and I presume lots of others.

Since Thunderbolt is allowed almost straight access to the CPU, it is able to lower the “round trip” audio latency from about an absolute minimum of about 4.5 ms through USB, to under 1 ms.

AND THERE IS NO APPRECIABLE CPU HIT with Thunderbolt - like there IS at the 88%-ish CPU usage point, with USB2/3. Break-up/Drop-outs. FACT.

I/We-), don't care about the TB4/Type-C tiny port, (maybe a special RME cable to robust port on interface?)

Don't care about shorter cable length realities, don't care about cost (they last for years), don't care how long it takes... TB4/USB4 will be the standard soon enough in my view, and for personal high end ULTIMATELY FLEXIBLE digital audio/video.

I ask myself, who I deeply respect and admire here on the forums has the UFX+

USB3 is fine if i need to be on a different computer. BEST of both, for $3000.00   TB4 if at all possible please. Even if it can't be available at release date, maybe as an internal or slot-mount option card?

I'll have to continue to baby-face reality if it doesn't happen. hahaha (not the first to think that of course!)

Best wishes to all - as always!

I have heard that ufx+ successor will be around march 2023 as I mentioned  in other thread. I can wait but it would bo nice to confirm this information.
