Topic: UFX+ with ADI-2 FS, best way to connect both?

Hello i have a UFX+ and i want to use it's AES in and out.
So i thought buying ADI-2 FS
https://www.rme-usa.com/adi-2-fs.html
Now i'm just wondering what would be the best way to connect them both because ufx has xlr sockets and adi-2fs is coax sockets.
I was told to just use 2 xlr to rca adapters like this:
http://economik.com/products/11501-12000/11824_full.jpg
http://economik.com/products/11501-12000/11821_full.jpg
And then use theses rca 75ohm cables CRR-SPD-2-BLACK from digiflex.

Will that work without any issues?

What setting i will need to use in the RME Madiface Settings?
AES format set to professional or consumer and optical 2 out set to aes/spdif?

From the adi-2 fs manual:

To receive signals in AES/EBU format, an
adapter cable is required. Pins 2 and 3 of a
female XLR plug are connected individually to
the two pins of a phono plug. The cable shielding is only connected to pin 1 of the XLR - not
to the phono plug.
The ground-free design with transformer in the coaxial input offers full compatibility to AES/EBU
along with perfect hum rejection.

Thanks!

It´s impossible to say from images if the connections are as they should be.
Also, you would be better served with 110 ohm cable.
There are cables sold specifically for this, ilke here: https://www.thomann.de/se/pro_snake_aes … male_3.htm

Thank you, why 110ohm would be better?

Because with 75 ohm cables (analoge standard) you will have to watch the cable lengths. In most cases it works, but as you will get cables for this its better to get the right kind, cables for digital signal.

I would say AES professional. But most important is to use the same format on both devices, UFX+ and ADI-2. The other setting is only if you want to use the optical output instead of the digital XLR port. As matrixmodulator I also would suggest to buy a cable made for exact this use.

You guys have links i can read more about this to understand the technical reasons or more details?
My cable will be 2feet length.

You should have said that in your first post. With such short cable lengths impedance, shielding and capacity are completely irrelevant. Everything will work, even two bare wires.

Thank you, yes i should have but i did not think of it because i assumed most people have adi-2-fs really close to the rest of the audio equipment.
Is there somewhere i can read about it? I would like to at least understand the basics of it.

Your lengths ARE close to the unit. AES has been developed for long cable runs, 10 meters, 50 meters, 100 meters...then those properties become relevant.

ok great, i guess i will search online by myself.
I understand it was created for bigger length but isnt most of the people have them really close to each other usualy theses days?
