Topic: Sending MIDI from UCX to UCX2 - flashing light

Hi,
Me and my partner each own a UCX card.
I own a UCX, he has a UCX2, we both run Ableton live on our separate Windows computers.

I want to send my UCX MIDI Out, to his UCX2 MIDI In
(To be able to control parameter in my partner's Ableton session.)

On my TotalMix UCX: Settings / Midi :
MIDI In : UCX Port 1
MIDI Out : UCX Port 1

On partner's TotalMix UCX2: Settings / Midi :
MIDI In : UCX2 Port 1
MIDI Out : none

When I trigger a note on my controller:
-I see the "Front panel MIDI In" light go on. Great!
-But it also trigger the "Front panel Midi Out" light... but this one flahes continuously. Bouuu!

On my partner's Ableton, we see that he does receive the midi signal... but continuously blinking. Not useful.

What are we doing wrong?
What can cause the midi out to send a continuous blinking signal?

The blinking MIDI activity lights are due to the settings you explained above. The TotalMix MIDI settings you mentioned are regarding the remote control of the mixer via MIDI, these should be set to NONE if you do not use a control surface (Mackie Control).

Good to know, this is clearer, thank you.


Now, how do I get MIDI to be sent out of the UCX via the MIDI breakout cable then?
Because just plugging it don't send MIDI out.
The MIDI out light don't light up, and my partner does not receive anything.

Setup is:
-MIDI controller plugged into UCX MIDI IN via RME provided breakout cable. (MIDI IN work fine)
-Outgoing MIDI cable is plugged from UCX MIDI OUT via REM provided breakout cable and into the UCX2 MIDI IN plug.

Why is there no MIDI out light and no signal?
What setting should I enable?
