With my Fireface400 on a Mac mini M1 and Ventura it matters in which order I power / boot the units. Fireface has to be already on before starting up the Mac.

I just went thru the whole thread again because it was marked as new replied.
I have the following questions and ideas:
- you say 'it stopped working'. So it worked before? What happened? System update? Bought new Mac? Waedi already asked that, but there was no answer from your side.
- do you have original Apple adapters (FW-TB2 / TB2/TB3)? Gianste probably can confirm this is really important (we were on FB discussing this). Third party adapters often don’t work.
- the RME apps (Fireface settings and Totalmix) are there but won’t open or don’t show a mixer window. The Fireface itself shows a red host led. To me are these clear indicators for a communication issue. So I would suggest to connect another FireWire device to the adapters to check this out (you already swapped cables, so this is checked out)
- don’t forget the simple things: unplug the adapters from the MacBook and from each other, plug them new, maybe to another TB port. Check if everything is firm.
