Topic: Firewire 800 card and driver for Fireface 800

Is there a preferred Firewire800 card to use to connect 2- Fireface 800s to Cubase 10 PRO on a Windows 7Professional 64 bit computer? If so, is there a preferred driver for this application.  If not preffered do you know of one that has been proven to work well with this set-up.   Thanks

TI chipset based cards tend to work most reliably. Avoid proprietary Firewire drivers, Windows drivers (sometimes "Legacy") work best.

Thanks.  what do you mean by proprietary drivers.  For instance, Siig cards suggest Unibrain drivers - example - ubcore-64 version 5.62.  Are they proprietary.  Do the Legacy drivers fully support the 800 Mbs Firewire 800 or are they limited to 400.   thanks

That's what I meant - don't use anything but standard Windows drivers for Firewire, no Unibrain... "Legacy" sometimes solves problems and supports FW800 as well.
