Topic: Netflix 5.1 with Fireface UCXii?

Hey guys,

I have a Fireface UCXii and would like to stream Netflix in 5.1 Surround.

Are there maybe Windows driver, which send Netflix a signal, that a compatible 5.1 reciever is connected? The Software could then convert the 5.1 stream so that the UCXii could read it?

Or is there a simpler solution?

Or can you recommend a studio quality surround receiver, which Outputs I could connect to the Inputs of the RME Interface?
But that sounds a little bit complicated to me.

Page 20 and 21 of the user manual tells how to set up for surround sound.
You have to set a WDM device and tell the Windows Media Player to use this.
Shouldn't be that difficult.
Follow step by step and let us kow if it works.

Hey, thank you for your answer. But I guess I already did this… I have no problem to hear Surround Sound on my Windows system, if I play for example surround video files directly on my pc. This is working correctly.

My question is directly regarding Netflix. Netflix doesn’t recognise my pc as a compatible surround device, even if my computer is set to surround.

If I have a Hifi Surround Reciever connected via HDMI, Netflix detects it correctly.

Have you selected surround in the menu ?

How do I get 5.1 audio from Netflix?
Is 5.1 audio enabled when watching a title? If the movie or TV show you're watching has 5.1 available, make sure that option is selected within the Audio & Subtitles menu during playback. Please note that not every episode or season of a 5.1 supported TV show will have 5.1 available.

I know how to watch surround with Netflix.
As I wrote, it does work with my Hifi Surround Receiver.

But I saw ,that I did this with the Netflix App. With Chrome there is no surround option available.

So I tried the Netflix App. The Problem is now, that it seems, that my Surround Receiver can decode the signal. With the UCXii I get wild noise sounds, propably because of the Dolby Plus Codec.

I just found out with google, that it could work with the edge browser. I will try that next.

It seems, that 5.1 Surround won't work with Browsers with Netflix.

I am thankful for the other RME-Thread, which I just found. Now I can watch Surround with the Netflix App. I wouldn't ever found out this solution on my own:
