Topic: Syncing question Digiface USB

Dear RME specialists smile
I have several devices that I would like to hook up via the Digiface USB. Three of them are ADDA converter so they have ADAT Inputs and Outputs). One is just just a preamp with an ADAT output and wordclock I/O. Is there a way how I can sync this - (The Digiface USB doesn’t have wordclock und the ADAT output of my preamp cannot receive a clock sign al :-()

Do your ADDA converters have a word out?

Re: Syncing question Digiface USB

In the Fireface Settings in the computer you have to set clock source to external ADAT.
The ADDA converters with Adat In and Out should have a switch or a setting to set clock source to external adat.
The one unit with wordclock input there the switch should be at internal or master 48kHz.
In the Fireface settings you should see all sync and lock.

Yes. Is this a typical implementation that a ADDA converter takes the ADAT clock and „puts“ it on it‘s wordclock BNCS?
That would be fantastic (and I didn‘t even think that this could work… :-))

Thank you @Waedi, but this os nocht a good way for me, since the Mic Preamp cannot be set to different sample rates (just with jumpers…)

Re: Syncing question Digiface USB

The Preamp has no adat input so it must receive wordclock.
Try out to connect one wordclock output of one of the ADDAs to give sync to the preamp.
The Fireface settings has to set clock source internal to the kHz the same as in the preamp.
The two ADDAs are clock source external Adat.
Look at the Fireface settings Sync Lock confirmation.

Re: Syncing question Digiface USB

Just in case you’re missing something here. Wordclock can be sent over adat as well and not only bnc. That is how I sync with my baby pro fs.

Babyface Pro Fs, Behringer ADA8200, win 10/11 PCs, Cubase/Wavelab, Adam A7X monitors.

Re: Syncing question Digiface USB

Yes, I know that. But the Digiface USB wich is the master doesn’t have Wordclock over BNC and one device doesn’t have any ADAT inputs…

I don't understand the question mark. I/we can not know that because you did not mention the type/model of ADDA at all.

Yes, it should work, and is quicker tried out then writing further posts here.
