Topic: M-32 DA noisy Vent any solution / alternative Vent ?

Hi
i just bought the old Version (used) of the M-32 DA and it sounds great. My old SSL Xlogic cant compare to it at all.
However, there is this little Vent build in. I assume its "load" controlled somehow, which does sound NOT so great.
When i Start the "M" its superloud and after a few secs it turns off. Guessing thats the normal test mode.

When i use it a bit the Vent turns on and its not quiet. Ive read there were some PSU issues cases due overheating with the old M32 so i dont want to unplug the Vent.
Now there is a constant tone, like a "Pad"  which is there all the time. I'm just sitting 1m away from it.
To descibe it the best, its as loud as a PC Laptop when its under load. I think everyone knows that sound.
ANNOYING !

Did anyone here exchange the Vent for a better quiter one, if so which one ?
Maybe as an alt, build in a bigger one into the M instead of having the little one just as an exhaust ?
Honestly i cant make music like this.

Which firmware version is this?

Does the fan blow out of the unit or into the unit?

Re: M-32 DA noisy Vent any solution / alternative Vent ?

Manual on site 32 states that the Firmware will be shown on the Level Meter for one sec after turning the M32 on.
Well i assume this means Version 2.1 ??

And the Vent is blowing Air outside the unit.

I will check the fan direction.

Are you aware of this:

- The temperature inside the unit can be read via MIDI.

- The fan operation can be changed via MIDI.

MIDI Remote 1.6 and up support these features under Windows and Mac.

Did you ever try the fan control via MIDI? Your firmware is 1.2, so that won't work. Which serial number has the unit (229xxxxx)?

The fan blows out, is audible, but the unit is not intended to be used on a desktop, so...

Re: M-32 DA noisy Vent any solution / alternative Vent ?

Yes of course i tried that Program and yes its not working.
No not 229xxxxx its Serial is: 234792xx close enough tho.

Yes the Fan blows out, to transport the hot Air outside, i didnt doubt that, its audible, yes you can say that. Its NOISY A.F. and it not intended to be used on a Desktop? Its not used on a Desktop???? Really ? I said its about 1m away. Its not on a Desktop. Its build into a Modson Studio Desk. However. Maybe if you wouldnt have build in a mini 40mm, 3 Euro Vent into a 3500 Euro Converter this would might not have happened!?!?!?. Assuming that the SUNON Maglev KDE0504PKV3 is the original Vent.
So any Solutions now?

Re: M-32 DA noisy Vent any solution / alternative Vent ?

You can update to firmware 2.1 and keep the fan low or even switch it off. In a normal room with normal temperature and the unit not heated up by other units below/above the fan is not required.

And/or improve the audibility by physical measures.

Re: M-32 DA noisy Vent any solution / alternative Vent ?

Hey MC, thanks for the Infos.
I tried to update the firmware via the BabyFace Pro.
Didnt work.

I tried different Midi Cables, restarted the DA-M32 and PC but still the same.
Even have chosen the other midi ports.
I have no idea what to do anymore. I guess i just leave it as it is.

Also it seems that there is NO Mac version, why is that ?

Or is there another chance (unplug a chip in the Unit and send it to RME?) ??

Also
the Manual says v1.5 is the initial Firmware. I wonder how i can have v1.2 ?

Btw:
i also build in a new Vent. Its also not that quiet but it doesnt have that loud noise and that "Pad" like sound as the old one.
Just if anyone is interested its this one:
EBM Papst 405 Axiallüfter 5 V/DC 10 m³/h (L x B x H) 40 x 40 x 20 mm

From the readme:

The corresponding MIDI input (MIDI or MADI) has to be selected at the converter.
