Topic: Impressed with the digiface USB, one question

Hey!

Impressed so far with my first RME purchase, the digiface USB, I have one question though.
I use the digiface for DJing, with the digiface sending audio to an Universal Audio Apollo twin using ADAT, where I can then use DSP processing before sending it to the mixer.

I tried to determine if my digiface should be (clock) master or slave. Most guides say that the device that converts to analog and handles outputs should be the master, so I tried this, sounds fine.
Then I tried to make the RME the master, with Apollo as slave, and this also sounds fine, but TBH this sounds slightly better.

The Apollo Twin is not a cheap device, so I first thought I wasn't hearing it right, but after careful comparisons, using the digiface as a master really makes the highest frequencies, (S and T sounds in vocals for example) sound more clear, and more stable and slightly louder.

I was wondering how that's possible, that's all. Happy with my digiface.

Try blind testing at the same volume levels.
