Topic: Fireface UFX+ - USB UTN Server

Hi!

Is it possible to connect the Fireface UFX+ USB3.0 port with a computer via a TCP/IP network? I have a distance to cover between the UFX+ and the pc and I am thinking of buying a USB to TCP/IP Server like this one:

Could that work?

I doubt so. Especially at lower latencies it can't work as any standard network is not able to do that.

If you have longer distance to cover you could use optical USB 3 cables, several solutions available.

Thank you for your help. I am now looking for a 20meter (plus) usb cable.

I understand that the Corning USB 3.0 optical cables work. However, they are hard to get (at least in Germany).

Is there a list of other cables that work? For example, I am wondering about this cable:

It seems reasonably priced. However, this cable is explicitly not compatible with USB 1.1 / 2.0. In German, it reads:

"Die Kabel entsprechen dem USB Standard SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps (auch SuperSpeed+ bzw. USB 3.0 / 3.1 / 3.2 Gen2 genannt) und sind in der Lage, Daten mit bis zu 10Gbps bzw. 900MB pro Sekunde zu übertragen. Sie sind nicht zu älteren USB Spezifikationen, wie USB 2.0 / 1.1 kompatibel."

Would that be a problem for the UFX+?

I got a corning from eBay (from portugal). Around €155.
Works BTW better on an USB3 port from intel compared to a port with FL1100 chipset.
