Topic: Do we need to install drivers for the RME ADI-2 DAC fs ?

So the other day my ADI-2 Dac was not recognised by my PC, I got a bit worried so I thought I need to update the drivers

All I did was restart my PC and it appeared again

But I remember I did not install any drivers

I then see online that if you install drivers then you get more options such as DSD playback and other things

This is the driver I downloaded but did not install:@

driver_madiface_win_09812

So the question is do we need the drivers? as someone said this is a plug n play amp?

Cheers

ADI-2 DAC is indeed Plug’N Play.

There’s no general rule but as long as everything works to your satisfaction I’d suggest to not change anything.

For firmware updates (where the driver is needed) use a different, non-audio machine.

The driver makes sense if your player soft supports ASIO.
