Topic: Direct lanes to CPU vs chipset lanes for asio card installation

Hi,

maybe somebody coudl help me out: Is there any significant impact on asio latency / Buffer Sizes / Stability when an ASIO card (RME HDSPe Raydat in my case)
is installed in a pice slot that is directly connected via CPU lanes vs a pice slot that is connected to the Chipset (Z790).
For my current motherboard I would loose one M.2 Source on the motherboard if I would install a soundcard on a pice slot via cpu lanes
but maybe its really worth it considering a performance gain ?
thanks a lot, cheers, lokotus

Chipset is connected via several PCIe lanes to CPU. You should be fine as there shouldn't be any bottleneck.
If you have a choice, preference on CPU lanes, if this is not possible, then take the slots through chipset.
