Re: Rme ucx + rme adi-2 fs 2

There is very little chance you could here a difference in a proper blind test.
You need to have some kind of problem for which this is the solution. But most problems are solved with, better room treatment, better speakers, better mic (placement), better musicians and instruments, better audio engineering, maybe better plugins etc. Hardly ever is the ad/da conversion the problem. Sometimes the problem is a mild case of boredom or insecurity (needing to have the best) or unrest lol.
Only for advertising would there be an advantage, "using premium quality top of the line ad/da"

There are 4 different ADI-2 models (in order of price and features):

1. ADI-2 FS: stereo ADC + stereo DAC, no LCD display, no DSP functions.
2. ADI-2 DAC FS: stereo DAC.
3. ADI-2 Pro FS: stereo ADC + 2x stereo DAC.
4. ADI-2/4 Pro SE: stereo ADC + 2x stereo DAC, extended features.

#1 makes a high quality AD/DA converter, with headphones and studio monitor connection options.
#3 and #4 are state of the art studio AD-DA converters and monitor controllers.

If you hear a difference, only yourself can decide.
Some do, and some don’t.

#3 and #4 have some special features that can make a difference, like the selection of the AD- and DA-filters.

Give the one you’re heading for a try is the best advice.

Hi martinmazzon,

welcome to the RME user forum.

For an overview:

- https://www.tonstudio-forum.de/blog/ent … ses-en-de/

To integrate those devices into your setup:

I owned ADI-2 Pro, ADI-2 DAC FS and currently owning two ADI-2 Pro FS R BE, one for recording / office corner and one in my HiFi area, there I use the device as D/A converter for
- PC as media player
- TV
- BluRay player

Up to four sources I can switch with a TOSLINK switcher which supports up to 192 kHz (Oehlbach Optosel 4:1 Mk II).

I think for studio work the ADI-2 Pro FS R BE would offer you the best feature set including a SRC (sample rate converter).
